The American Idea

About the podcast

Jeff Sikkenga hosts the Ashbrook Center’s podcast about American history and political principles. The program considers how ideas from the past bear on contemporary debates. Topics include constitutional institutions, public finance, and the meaning of the Revolution. Historical episodes provide context for questions about authority and political responsibility. The show invites listeners to examine present-day disagreements through the country’s longer intellectual and civic history.
