The History of Byzantium

About the podcast

The History of Byzantium follows the eastern Roman Empire. Its narrative begins in 476 and continues toward 1453. The chronological scope connects the empire’s long survival with its eventual end. Byzantine history supplies the organizing subject rather than a collection of unrelated periods. The program offers a sustained account of this continuation of the Roman world.
